Community Art Summer Series @ N Hydro Park, Ypsilanti

Welcome to ESC Ethnographer-in-Residence community art summer series 2026 @ N Hydro Park, Ypsilanti! More details about the Ethnographer-in-Residence fellowship can be found here.
Food and fun for all ages! Come join us for a day in the park on the beautiful Huron River!
Community art summer series schedule:
Saturday June 27 1-5pm
Suminagashi Paper Marbling
We will make beautiful papers using ink and river water that moves with our hands and breath, tools and the wind.
Friday July 17 4-8pm
Linocut Block Printing Posters and Clothing
We will design posters, patches, stickers and clothing using linocut blocks of birds, plants, water and wildlife at Hydro Park!
Sunday August 9 10-2pm
We will walk Hydro Park to source roots and plants that provide natural pigments. We will then use allum and ash to create a watercolor set that you can take home!
We will gather materials from the events to build a community art installation that will exhibit in Ypsilanti in the Fall. Opening date TBA
